I have a 7 year old son. He has ADHD, an amazing imagination, makes me laugh and makes me cry.
I have a 21 year old Pon. He has ADHD, an amazing spirit, makes me laugh and makes me cry.
I gave birth to one, luckily stumbled across the other and both have changed my life in amazing ways.
Seven years ago when I still had a month to go in my pregnancy I was told that I was going to have an emergency C-section. My blood pressure had skyrocketed, preeclampsia, and surprise you are going to be a mom today! It was a whirlwind of emotions, 10 days in the NICU for Corbin, but I brought home a healthy baby. About six months later I was told that if I got pregnant again I ran a huge chance of loosing the baby or me. It was a shock, but something I accepted.
I never imagined that six years later I’d become a “mom” again.
My two boys mean the world to me. I love them with all my heart, worry about them on a daily basis and want the best for them no matter what they do.
However, this all leads to a question. How do you combine a porn star and a seven year old?
It’s easy. You don’t.
You combine my friend Levi, (though Corbin uses his real name) who lives in NYC, used to live in Ohio, is a daddy to Bella, works as a model and has awesome bosses with 4 dogs with my 7 year old Corbin. Maybe someday Corbin will learn the extent of Levi’s modeling, but for now what he knows works.
To Levi, Corbin is his little brother. The one kid that changed his views of “it” to “him”. They talk on Skype together, can’t wait to have a water gun fight and sometimes sound way too much alike! Corbin can not wait to meet Levi. He talks about all the things they are going to do together when he finally makes it to visit. Corbin tells his friends about “me and mama’s friend Levi.”
I’ve seen comments about how dare you let your son talk with a porn star. People forget, he might be a porn star for the 20 minutes on camera, but that does not define all of who he is. That is his job, and outside of work he is a person, just like everyone else. Are you just defined by your work? Probably not. Yet, we seem to define these boys by their profession.
I am glad that Corbin has Levi in his life. I’m glad that Levi has Corbin in his life. I long for the day when I have both my boys in the same place as I am. However, no mater where we are, we are still a family, unusual just like any other.
